The GE Fanuc/VMIC VMIVME-7459 Single-slot VME IDE CD-RW/Hard drive module is a versatile mass storage module that can be used with the VME processor family of GE Fanuc embedded systems.The VMIVME-7459 comes in a variety of configurations,including writable discs and up to 80GB of hard disk storage.The component will support a CD drive and a hard drive to connect to a single IDE interface.The CD-RW drive option is compatible with Photo CD,CD-I,Video CD,Enhanced CD,CD PLUS,CD-ROM-XA,CD-DA,and CD-RW.Supports disc write once,track write once,multi-section and incremental packet write formats.

The CD-ROM drive option supports multi-segment discs and is compatible with Photo CD,CD-I,Video CD,Enhanced CD,and CD PLUS.The DVD-ROM option allows users to get the best,most versatile options available on the VMIVME-7459.Dvd-roms allow users to read DVD-ROM,DVD-R,and DVD-RW media,and provide users with CD-RW capabilities and standard CD-ROM capabilities.

IDE hard drive is optional.Jumpers are provided to configure the device as an IDE master or slave.This gives the VMIVME-7459 flexibility in applications,as it can be used together with other GE Fanuc storage modules as either a CD only module or a hard disk only module.For example,a fully populated VMIVME-7459 can be used with a floppy-only VMIVME-7452 module.

The VMIVME-7459 establishes a connection to the IDE interface of a single board computer(SBC)via the VME P2 user defined pin.The type of SBC module and the physical layout of the VME chassis determine the optional cable requirements.For typical applications with a single-slot SBC,the VMIVME-7459 is physically placed near the SBC.The connection between the boards uses a two-slot VMXC-2 cable assembly,or a three-slot VMXC-3 cable assembly to house the floppy disk module.For dual-slot GE Fanuc SBC applications or installations where the VMIVME-7459 is not placed near the SBC,a 14-inch VMXC-H cable assembly is recommended.
