The EcoStruxure™FFoxboro™DDCS Field Control Processor 280(FCP280)is a distributed,optional fault-tolerant field installation controller module.The FCP280 performs adjustment,logic,timing and sequence control in conjunction with the connected Foxboro DCS Fieldbus module(FBM).It also performs data acquisition,alert detection,and notification.The FCP280 connects to the Foxboro DCS control network via a standard fiber or copper 100Mbps Ethernet cable via a network adapter mounted on its baseboard.The FCP280 requires Foxboro DCS Control Core Services software v9.0 or higher.Asystem with FCP280 and the software are called EcoStruxure Foxboro DCP Process Automation System.
The optional dual cable baseplate supports four PIO channels,but provides separate A and B bus connectors as well as dedicated connectors for optional time-gated inputs.Fieldbus connections from the optional dual cable baseplate to the standard or compact 200 series FBM require separate A and B bus cables and a dual”D”connection adapter(RH926KW)on the FBM baseplate.
The number of FBMS that the FCP280 can support varies depending on the type of FBM used:
Each fieldbus port on the FCP280 dedicated 200 Series FBM-FCP280 baseboard can be connected to the baseboard chain via 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus,and each chain can be connected to up to 32 compact or standard 200 series FBMs for up to 128 modules.
200 series and 100 Series FBM(dual baud configuration)for use with the FCP280.
The FCP280 can support a total of 128 100 series FBMS(Y modules)or competing devices(such as Foxboro DCS system migration FBMS)in one or more backplane chains,with a remaining limit of 128 modules of the FCP280 to 200 series FBMS,depending on the load of the FCP280 fieldbus.For example,the FCP280 can support 64 100 series FBMS and 64 200 series FBMS(64+64=128).For counting purposes,the main FBM and the extended FBM are treated as two FBMS.In addition,no more than 64 100 series FBMS are allowed on each PIO bus/substrate port.
Note:Certain competitive migration or supported third-party modules,such as the EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS process Automation System Migration Fieldbus module and Pepperl+Fuchs™II/O module can increase the maximum 128 modules per FCP280.Regarding the maximum number of migration/third party modules supported per FCP280,
Note:Dual cable baseboards do not support connection to the 100 Series FBM or equivalent competitive migration and third party modules.
Note:Although the FCP280 is capable of communicating with a maximum number of FBMS(128),some limitations may limit the design of useful control systems and thus the number of FBMS that can be installed.When supporting both 200 series and 100 series FBMS,each fieldbus port(PIO channel)is dedicated to supporting either the 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbus(for 100 series FBMS)or the 2 Mbps HDLC Fieldbus(for 200 series FBMS),rather than both.For the connection of the 100 series FBM,a pair of FBI200s is required to extend the communication to 1,830 meters(6,000 feet).
Note:When replacing CP10,CP30,CP40,or CP60 with FCP280 and retaining all of its 100 series FBMS,you need to install FBI200 between the CP and FBM to reduce potential system messages.The fieldbus separator(RH928CV)is used to connect the fieldbus port directly to the 268Kbps HDLC fieldbus.This provides a connector for any fieldbus port on the FCP280 substrate and two terminal cable Assembly(TCA)termination blocks for the biaxial cable of the 100 Series FBM.The FCP280 can also communicate with serial and Ethernet devices such as PLCS through field device system integrators(special FBMS).This allows you to connect new device interfaces without changing the controller software.
