2.Triggering method

Bidirectional thyristor has bidirectional conduction function,so there are four triggering modes:

Forward triggering in the first quadrant(I+triggering mode):When the voltage applied by the main electrode T2 to T1 is a forward voltage,and the control electrode G applies a forward triggering signal to the first electrode T1,the bidirectional thyristor triggers is turned on,and the current flows from T2 to T1.

Negative triggering in the first quadrant(I-triggering mode):If the main electrode T2 is still applied with a positive voltage,and the trigger signal is changed to a reverse signal,after the bidirectional thyristor is triggered and turned on,the direction of the on-state current is still from T2 to T1.

Ⅲ+trigger mode:A reverse voltage is applied to the two main electrodes,and a forward trigger signal is input.After the bidirectional thyristor is turned on,the on-state current flows from T1 to T2.

Ⅲ-Triggering mode:The two main electrodes are still applied with reverse voltage,and the input is a reverse trigger signal.After the bidirectional thyristor is turned on,the on-state current still flows from T1 to T2.

Although bidirectional thyristors have the above four triggering modes,the negative triggering mode is more commonly used in actual use because the triggering voltage and current required for negative signal triggering are relatively small and the operation is more reliable.
